Purpose

The Building Department administers and enforces the current editions of the New York State Building, Residential, Energy, Plumbing, Fuel Gas, Mechanical, and Existing Building Code regulations as well as the Village of Monroe Zoning laws pertaining to the location, design, materials, construction, alteration, repair, equipment, maintenance, use, occupancy, removal and demolition of structures located within the Village of Monroe.

Our purpose is to protect the health, safety and welfare of the residents through enforcement of NYS State codes along with the Code of the Village of Monroe.

We also provide control & direction of development to benefit the whole; maintain open communication and provide fiscal responsibility. Building permit inspections and certificates of occupancy are your assurance and ours that your home and the buildings and stores in the Village meet the building codes for structural soundness and fire safety.
